Women's History Month: Stephie

Meet Stephie. She's a beautiful soul with a friendly and caring personality. Always looks out for her friends and family.

Kaylyn Gabbert: Do you make time for yourself? What are some of your hobbies? 

Stephie: I try my best to make time for myself but it’s hard though because i have so many responsibilities. But I do like crafty stuff like cross stitch and diamond art. I like to color. And bake. I love baking.

KG: I'm glad you make time for yourself. What kind of crafts do you love doing? 


What's your favorite thing to bake? 

S: I love doing diamond art and cross stitch the most. it keeps my hands busy and I listen to my books when I do them. It's a great distraction. 


I really like making anything with fruit. Mostly muffins but I recently made an apple cinnamon crumble bar that was delicious.



KG: When and how did you meet your wife?

S: We meant online on a blogging site called tumblr in 2012. She had a major following and I admired her so I sent her a message. And we started talking and the rest is history lol

KG: If you don't mind me asking, how did your wife garner her following on tumblr?

S: I'm not really sure how she got such a big following. She said she used tags, posted consistently, and was responsive to people. 



KG: What would your dream job be? 

S: My dream job would be to have a nonprofit for unwanted, abused, and senior dogs. I want a large plot of land and the ability to help them.

Treasured Memories Part II

A few days ago, July 3rd, I was reading the latest issue of Reader's Digest. The first article that caught my attention was 'Why I've Decided Not to Write a Memoir'. It was about a woman who being given a very detailed and loving letter from her grandmother about why her grandmother couldn't write a memoir even though she had so many stories collected. This article made me reread the first  Treasured Memories I wrote almost a year ago. A lot has changed since that draft for some, and I want to add more people as well. Some bonds have grown stronger, and others have made their mark in my lately. Books named in the memories will be linked in the bottom. The Perfect Book for a Traveler of the Mind or Vacationer

  I recently finished reading ‘Where to Go When’ by DK Eyewitness, and the immediate things that make the book fabulous are it breaks up locations by what month is the best time to visit them, they tell when else to go, and all about planning your trip. Each ‘chapter’ is month by month. The other months each location may mention may mention off-seasons, concerts, holidays, ect. In the planning your trip section they mention getting there, getting around, the weather in that month, and the average weather in Fahrenheit and Celsius. For any and all travelers that is extremely important, the Fahrenheit and Celsius because you don’t want to have to take your phone out to translate that on your own all the time.  While reading the book a few places stood out to me as research places for my work like Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Kyoto and Tokyo, Japan, and Galway, Ireland.
