International Women’s Day from Kaylyn’s Universes Volume IV

And we are back again with another International Women’s Day celebration, and all Kaylyn’s universes have to offer. We have some newbies from some of our older stories like:

  1. Music Nymphs

  2. Project Poseidon (news about)

  3. Heart on Her Sleeve

  4. Neck Bites and Risen Hairs

Music Nymphs, Project Poseidon, and Heart on Her Sleeve were all mentioned in my first International Women’s Day from Kaylyn’s Universes post. https://kaylynsworldimaginaryandnot.blogspot.com/2021/03/international-womens-day-from-kaylyns.html

Music Nymphs: Fresno, CA has more than its fair share of kidnappings for months. There is rhyme or reason to any of it, no M.O. It’s putting all citizens on edge. Then there’s recluse, Chels, a music nymph, who lives deep in the mountains above Fresno. She lives there with her two sisters who work in Fresno. One night, while Chels, her family, and their neighbors are saving a young witch from three kidnappers they find out they live suspiciously near a Head Hunters’ base. Are they just going to lie down and let the Head Hunters subject others to horrible experiments or is there a way to get this base shut down? And if so, what will the cost be? Can they get help from the people of Fresno?

Caliope Ashmore: Caliope is a dangerous and powerful witch who has aligned herself with some powerful gods to protect those she loves and cares for. Her methods may be extreme, but they are effective. Chels, By, and Rae are lucky that she sees them as her kids. She’s training Rae to be a surgeon like herself, and she knows Chels and By’s grandparents.

Jess Conrad: Jess was found at the base of the outdoor stairs in her vulnerable werewolf form after being a Head Hunters’ captive for two months. She cannot currently change back to her human form. Jess is malnourished with quite a few injuries and trusts the only music nymph who extended music to her after everything because her wife is a music nymph, and this proves to Jess her nightmare is over.

Ivy Conrad: Ivy has been frantically doing anything and everything she can to find her wife since Jess went missing. She’s fortified their home, so when she gets her wife back, she can protect her again and make her feel safe. When she finally got the call that Jess was found and her wife’s fragile state, her heart shattered. Ivy would give her wife the world, is independent, and the most caring person you can meet.

Project Poseidon, as of December 2023, is mutually closed by both coauthors.

Heart on Her Sleeve: A princess, Nikkita, comes down to meet the only commoner Oracle, Keaton in town. Based on what Nikkita has overheard about Keaton, she’s fascinated by her. Keaton overextends herself often, and where her family notices there’s not much they can do because they don’t want to come off as overbearing like their mother. Once Keaton and Nikkita meet and hang out a bit a design starts forming on Keaton’s shoulder known as an Imprint, a rare marking a Royal’s soulmate will get. But they’re already headed for rough water, and it seems like one one of them notices it. Can she fix what’s going on before it’s too late?

(I created this summary in November 2020, and when I read it to my mom (biological) she loved it. She saw it being on a dust jacket, and more importantly she loved that it didn't give the ending away. 😄 Romance is my mom's favorite genre, so I take her opinion in high regard.)

Queen Imelda: Not only does Queen Imelda care for her kids and her people, but when she found out her eldest had a soul mate with an Imprint and everything, she went into Mom research mode. She now shows her future daughter-in-law and her siblings how much she cares. She does not stand for injustices. She raised all of her kids to be well-rounded, no matter their gender. As three of her kids are adults she lets them have their responsibilities of the kingdom and stays out of the way of their investigations because she trusts her kids and their judgment.

Neck Bites and Risen Hairs was from International Women’s Day from Kaylyn’s Universes Part II. Volume II, my bad. https://kaylynsworldimaginaryandnot.blogspot.com/2022/03/international-womens-day-from-kaylyns.html

In Neck Bites and Risen Hairs, as Reighlyn is just getting used to her new surroundings, she’s informed that she’s not like other teens her age. That would explain her old scars and the new one that keeps appearing on her neck like the victims of the serial killer, ‘The Leech’. But Reighlyn doesn’t just have to worry about that as another danger seems to be much closer to her and knows a little too much about her, and they seem to have even more sinister intent than the serial killer…

Harper: Harper is a gymnast who Reighlyn helped when she almost died in the woods. Harper is a kind and inquisitive classmate of Reighlyn’s.

Emily Wheatly: Emily used to be a dispatch caller, but after four haunting calls all on the same day ten years ago, she had to retire from the job for her own mental health. She thoroughly researched the aftermath of each of those incidents to make sure everyone involved were okay and got the help they needed. She ended up falling for the male caller that haunted her the most that day. But the person she cares for the most is the female caller who was only a kid at the time. She even got the little girl caller a doll that looks like her.

Amber Graves: Though Amber is a brat to her older twin siblings and their friend Reighlyn, she truly cares for her older twin siblings and she’s doing everything she can to protect them and her twin brother from the monsters she knows to be true.

Dariah Grey: Dariah is a horrible woman and Dylan’s birth mom who abandoned him and his father when he was a kid with no real explanation. She only returned to cause trouble with the most important person in Dylan’s entire world. No one currently knows her full motivations or intentions.

Mrs. Adele Atkinson: Ms. Adele is a shaman as well as a child and teen psychologist. She knows Ms. Riley Stone well, and was delighted to help Reighlyn through transitioning into a new life where she has a guardian who adopted her immediately.

Then there’s what was mentioned in Volume III. https://kaylynsworldimaginaryandnot.blogspot.com/2023/03/international-womens-day-from-kaylyns.html

So first up To Second Chances by me and my coauthor A. R. Barlow. They are collabing with me on this part. Kayl and Kai are best friends who are acquisitioned to finish an exchange program they’ve never heard of, but not all as it seems. Kayl and Kai luckily get close to their new dorm mates before moving in and will do anything to protect each other and their new roommates.

Kayl Emerald: Kayl is a powerful empath who is musically powered and has a fiery temper if anyone threatens one of her loved ones. She tends to let her heart lead her, and that worries and sometimes even scares her family and friends.

Kaiouri aka Kai: Kai is a friendly woman with a bit of a simpler mindset. She is normally quiet, but never allows anyone to step on her or her friends. She is more cautious of the best friends, and a very passionate person.

Shuffling the Deck is about how Nick Frost had specifically made sure his daughter, Tabitha, was adopted by the best person he knew when he was too young to care for her, but he always planned to meet her when they both got older, but life never goes as planned. Since Nick couldn’t visit his daughter, he arranged for her to meet her other siblings and father.

Tabitha Nick Grackle Rocket: Tabitha gets two of her names from her biological dad and two from her adoptive mom. Tabitha Grackle was named by biological dad, and her adoptive mom Shayna middle named her Nick to honor her father. She is bright, has many hobbies, and has severe social anxiety, so finding out she has six siblings after living life as an only child was a bit jarring. She’s kind and loves helping others, though she’s closest to her two best friends, Mei and Rai and her family.

Shayna Rocket: Shayna is a loving woman, who has always been good to her town. She’s a hard-worker and a dedicated mother, who helps Tabitha in every way she can. She’s dedicated to making sure Tabitha is well-rounded.

Maya Frost: Maya is the only daughter that Nick and his husband adopted along with five sons. She does not have the best taste in men, but she’s loyal and loving to her family. She was the first to go help Tabitha out of her head by staying home with her when Shayna needed to go to work after Nick passed away.

Ellie Rivera: Ellie is one of the Frost sons, Hayden’s best friends, and she’s ultimately not one to fuck with. She’s one of the most loyal and accepting of her friends and family of said friends. She also has a twin brother who she’s close to. After only knowing Tabitha for a few days, she became protective of her as she had an anxiety attack next to her in class.

Phobos’ Goals is inspired by a nightmare that I had as a teen, and scared me so bad that I had to wake my dad for reassurance. It’s crazy to think it has haunted me for over fifteen years. It is about the Nightmare God, Phobos, torturing an empath to the brink of her deciding not to sleep. His goal with this is to break into the human realm and cause chaos through her.

Emerald: Emerald is a hard-working student who loves studying multiple subjects. She’s undecided on her major currently, and her inability to get a good night's sleep isn’t helping one bit. She was on a good path for herself, but she always pushes herself as far as she can when she’s in a bad headspace; luckily, her siblings Xander and Gage are always there to help her out like she helps them. She’s loyal and caring to those she sees as family.

Gage: Gage is very intuitive, especially when it comes to her two bond siblings, Emerald and Xander, and their needs. She’s the most responsible and most mature though she’s the youngest of the house by a year. She also knows how to comfort her siblings as well.  Always knows her audience and how to talk to them on their level.

The Five Year Curse is inspired by a very intense nightmare I had. After Wes is murdered prematurely as according to her death-date she has five years added on to her life by her government with stipulations of course, but they do that for everyone that has died prematurely to their death date as long as you can prove it wasn’t suicide. Stipulation includes anyone under the age of those who can get life insurance cannot be told they have been brought back to life and must be allowed to focus on living their lives to the fullest. Everyone who wishes to remain a part of their life will submit to this. In Wes’ case, her murderer was also prematurely killed, so did the government bring them back? Not only that, but not everyone in Wes’ life is playing ball. Why is that? Will she live through her extra five years?

Wes Forsyth: Wes is a determined fifteen-year-old. She’s always been inquisitive as well, but her new guardians as well as the staff at her school have no problem protecting her from what she needs protecting from. She works on the school paper, has a few close friends, and wants to remain a good student.

Tawny: Tawny is one of two new guardians of Wes’, it was an easy transition, as Wes grew up around her since Tawny has been a lifelong friend of her older brother Alexander. Tawny has never minded going to the mat for her friends and Wes, and that has only intensified since Wes’ incident. She’s protective, hard-working, but knows the meaning of family so she’s happy she’s one of two guardians at home. She supports Wes’ dreams but wants to raise her to be well-rounded. Truth be told, she never expected to have a child in her care but anything to make Wes’ life easier.

Vice Principal Kamati: Vice Principal Kamati cares about all of her students, as cliche as that sounds. No matter what kind of discipline or help they need she’s there to provide it. If she finds out her staff is actually hurting the students’ chances one way or another she’ll look into it then there will be consequences for the party in the wrong.

Brenda: Brenda was initially Wes’ rival on the school newspaper, but when Wes returned to school after everything, she gave Wes her beats back without fighting. Wes came to her looking for straight answers about why everyone was treating her differently since her getting home from the hospital, but even Brenda gave her the soft answer because family members of hers had been or are currently going through what Wes is going through, and she wouldn’t want someone to ruin it for he family members. Then when someone sketchy is waiting outside looking for Wes, Brenda jumps into action to save her.

Raising Hellraisers is inspired by a conversation by my friend I publicly call Devil Spawn Wife and I had. Melody surprisingly and by accident got Harmony, her longtime girlfriend pregnant. As soon as Melody finds out, she brings her girlfriend to her home for the proper care.

Harmony (Angel Wife): Harmony was mistreated for a long period of her life, until she met her longtime girlfriend, Melody. She’s so sweet and kind to everyone she meets. She loves volunteering. She is the reason the couple has two ferrets.

Melody (Devil Spawn Wife): As it turns out Melody is the Princess of the Underworld, another surprise to her, as she only knew she was a demon. She is protective of those she loves. Much like her girlfriend, she loves animals. She’s not a natural-born leader, so she’ll have to study upon her royal duties.

Specialist Rosalee: Rosalee is the medical specialist that cares for the Royal family, mostly focusing on Harmony at the moment as she’s the only human and pregnant. Rosalee takes her job very seriously and always does a thorough exam on the patient she’s focused on.

Summerress: Summerress is a sweetheart and on staff at the penthouse where Harmony and Melody live. She’s been very welcoming to Harmony, to the point they are friends. She’s always looking out for Harmony like a younger sister. She’s also a diligent worker.

Henrietta: Henrietta has worked for Melody’s family for generations, and is happy to finally serve Melody and her family as the head cook. She’s willing to help Harmony acclimate to the Underworld’s cuisine, but she’s also making sure to get the unborn children what they need from the human what they need and keeping a close eye on anything Harmony may be allergic to from the Underworld cuisine.

Bad Omens is my most recent story in the making based on nightmares I’ve been having. Five brothers and a few others witnessed horrible night terrors of Hazel’s death before any of them met Hazel. Then one of the brothers, Jake, wakes up in a hospital bed next to her and freaks out because he thinks he knows her, but when she wakes up she doesn’t know any of them. As it turns out Jake and Hazel have a lot in common which is why the night terrors affected him the worst, but does this mean her death was foretold like in the dreams?

Hazel Preyor: Hazel’s had a troubled past, but she currently doesn’t remember much of anything as she woke up in the hospital. She’s naturally caring, curious, and helpful to anyone but herself.
